Description
This hand-carved lino print features the timeless Bote Jeghe (بته جقه) motif, a Persian design that symbolizes resilience, eternal life, and spiritual growth. Inspired by the cypress tree, long revered in Persian art and poetry as a sign of dignity and endurance, this design carries centuries of meaning in its elegant curves.
Each print is made using traditional linocut techniques, where I carve the pattern by hand and prints it manually on the paper.
Why it matters
The Bote Jeghe motif has traveled from ancient Persia to become a universal design symbol — later influencing Indian, Ottoman, and even Western textile traditions (known globally as Paisley). This piece reconnects the form to its roots, celebrating Persian heritage and the enduring beauty of symbolic art.
